The smoked oak chevrons have been fitted above a 9mm plywood subfloor which meets the height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm under a 3m straight edge. Each chevron has been fitted tongue to groove whilst adhered to the plywood subfloor using Sika T54 Parquet Adhesive.
Prior to the fields installation a chevron spine was left to adhere to the plywood subfloor to provide a fixed line to work off from.
Once the entire floor had been laid the chevrons were sanded and stained on site using black wood stain before a prime coat of Bona Mega Matt lacquer and two coats of Bona Traffic HD Matt lacquer were applied.
The installation was complete with the fixings of solid oak radiator roses, fireplace thresholds, flatplates & white primed quadrant to cover any expansion gaps left for the chevrons to expand and contract naturally. All wooden trims and radiator roses were stained and lacquered using the same materials as the flooring.
